With new bachelorettes

Marvelous Entertainment is announcing that Rune Factory Frontier is coming to the Nintendo Wii. The Rune Factory saga features two other games, both released for the Nintendo DS, and the move to the Wii might prove a big hit for the series, as the game will surely attract more players interested in virtual match making and adventure.

The location of Rune Factory Frontier is a village on the island of Translupia which, oddly enough, exists in the shadow of a whale-shaped island that sits directly on top of it in the sky. The first game in the series will include the main characters, Reguna and one other protagonist in the person of Mist, but all other characters are new and there's no word on how the new story connects with the plot from the previous games. New revealed bachelorettes will include Drop, who is a bit of a nerd with big glasses, and Annette, the girl that delivers the mail.

This game, as all the other in the series, is focused on the everyday work of a villager that needs to go out in the field and take care of his farm. Different terrains have different properties that the player can use to his advantage. The water from one side of the village might work better for certain crops, while planting some trees in the vicinity will provide protection from the elements. Each move must be thoroughly considered, as it might change the conditions for the rest of the game.

The game is set for launch in Japan later in the year. There's no official word on whether the game will be made available in North America or in Europe, but a delay is to be expected in any case. Some outlets will import the game after it is launched in Japan, but that will only be an option for you if you can understand the language.
