14 DAY TRIAL // Developer of cloud application delivery solutions GraphOn Corporation today announced the GO-Global iPad Client, a freely downloadable app from the iTunes App Store.
Allowing the user to view and interact with Windows applications on their iPad, the GO-Global iPad Client is used in conjunction with GraphOn’s GO-Global Windows Host 4 application virtualization solution, the company said.
Users allegedly get instant access to server-resident Windows applications from virtually any location, platform, and operating system.
The app also leverages intuitive multi-touch gestures to replicate mouse and keyboard operations.
It automatically zooms-in to the currently active window in order to make it easier to interact with graphical elements.
Best of all, no sign-up or registration is required, GraphOn said. However, the solution is available solely to GO-Global customers who can now download the free GO-Global iPad Client for immediate access to GO-Global-enabled Windows applications.
Those who are not existing customers can evaluate its capabilities by downloading the same free app and connecting to GraphOn’s online demonstration server, the company said.
“Our GO-Global iPad Client includes a number of advanced usability features,” said Asaf Doron, GraphOn vice president of product marketing.
“For example, when viewing Microsoft Office applications on an iPad, the auto-zoom feature will detect the section of the screen that is currently active in the desktop Office application and automatically zoom in on that area,” added Doron.
“This is the first product resulting from our new mobile client initiative that will allow for easy cloud delivery of legacy desktop applications to popular smartphone and tablet platforms, ranging from Apple iOS devices such as iPad and iPhone to Android smartphone and tablets,” continued Doron.
“This means that the millions of existing Windows, UNIX and Linux legacy applications can be easily and seamlessly delivered to smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices.”
GO-Global is an iPad-exclusive app. It works on both iPad 1 and iPad 2 and requires iOS 4.2 as the minimum iOS version.
