There is a lot of buzz going about the net. It seems people are expecting Apple to unveil the new Intel based Mini in January at MacWorld.
"Our extensive checks in the supply chain are pointing to a very possible early introduction of Intel-based Macs before the June 2006 target date, with a possible Intel-based Mac Mini introduced at MacWorld," wrote UBS Analyst Ben Reitzes.
Reitzes's statement does not
really shock and surprise anyone, after all, the presentation jobs made was off a Intel based Mac, running Mac OS X Tiger.
Gene Munster, a Piper Jaffray analyst also said: "I think [Reitzes] is right, Apple could announce an Intel-based product whether they ship it or not, but they do have a history of showing a product and shipping it within weeks."
Apple has a history of unveiling their blockbuster products at MacWorld so this would not be entirely out of the question.
Whether they will release it or not, Apple is already enjoying a big rise in their shares as investors bet on growth for its music and video business. With 1.5 million songs being sold per day in July, and 1.8 million songs per day in September, the company is looking at a steady growth. Apple shares gained 10 percent overall during the first week of November, and the holiday season is only starting.
How good will this Christmas be to Apple no one can tell, but with all the buzz going around, if Jobs didn't have a surprise up his sleeve, he's going to have to come up with one.
