120 GB hard drive, HDMI output and cheap too, $299. Or is it $400...?

German gaming site Xbox-Archiv brings the rumored black Xbox 360 back into the picture. They claim to have been tipped off about this elusive system and its impressive specs, making the Core model look like garbage material. The black 360 should be equipped with a 120 GB hard drive and HDMI output at the incredible price of...hold tight to your chair and reed: $299. You'd think that if Microsoft were to improve their system, they'd sell it at a higher price, but no. That's your price right there.

According to the gaming site, the black 360 is coming in May, but just as you've probably guessed, Microsoft ain't saying jack. However, an update on the same piece of news (update on a rumor, huh...) says that a $299 black Xbox 360 isn't actually possible. The price will more likely be around $400 per unit. "From reliable sources we experienced now that Microsoft plans release of a new Xbox 360 version in May 2007." This is what the site says. Also, they're sure it's going to be black, even if the console might not be the code named Zephyr machine all the rumors were about. It doesn't even have a name.

It doesn't have a name? So much for reliable sources... The product's name comes first all the time, for publicity and stuff. They make it sound good first if it can't be seen first, plus if the machine had a name, the story would have had a bigger chance of people believing it. What am I talking about here...? There are millions out there that almost have a heart attack each time they hear rumors about their favorite console getting improved, or getting new controllers or even new casings (like the 360's see-through casing they're so crazy about). Why would it need a name? And when the name is made official - another heart attack.
