Citing the usual industry sources in China, trade publication DigiTimes is reporting that Apple will increase its MacBook shipments, as it will start placing new orders for upgraded models.

According to sources from the upstream supply chain, “Apple's MacBook shipments in the second quarter are expected to grow 10% sequentially as the company has almost finished digesting its excess inventory and should start placing new orders in mid-May.”

The sources specifically said that Apple’s May orders will be for “Haswell-based models.”

A codename for a processor microarchitecture currently under development by Intel's Oregon team, Haswell is the successor to the Ivy Bridge architecture of processors (used in all MacBooks and iMacs at the moment).

The platform is based on a 22 nm process and Intel is expected to release the speedier processors around June 2013. In this respect, a new breed of MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros might be launched at WWDC 2013.
