Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is one of the projects that fans have been desperate to see announced and that some have thrown into the vaporware category, but fresh rumors suggest that development on the game might be progressing well at a new company.

Information posted on the PlayStation Lifestyle site says that Spark Unlimited is looking for a ““senior combat designer for a 3rd Person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise currently greenlit for full production development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC markets.”

The official statements from Spark have not offered any information on the video games project that it is creating, saying only that it is “working on a sequel for a well-known sci-fi franchise” and that “all aspects must remain secret” at the moment because of the sensitive nature of the project.

A Twitter message from the company added, “You want word on SWBF3, you should contact Lucasarts, I know I can speak more when the publisher speaks more.”

Spark Unlimited was initially linked to Star Wars: Battlefront 3 in 2011 when the company talked about its new project and made a number of references to the venerable science fiction intellectual property.

Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was first rumored to be in development during 2006, when Free Radical Design was said to be the developer in charge and since then LucasArts is said to have canceled that incarnation of the game.

During 2009 both Pandemic and Rebellion were linked to the Star Wars game, but both denied that they had any connection to it.

LucasArts has made no official announcement about Star Wars: Battlefront 3.

It has been close to seven years since the launch of Star Wars: Battlefront II and fans of the game are still praising it for the way it managed to create a solid team-based shooter while also delivering a good narrative that respects all the tropes of the Star Wars universe.
