A rumor has surfaced stating that Sony would announce new PlayStation 3 bundles this week at E3 2010. The packages would be centered around the PlayStation Move motion controller and would come around sometime this year. The pricing is not known for the moment, but more information will surely be revealed at Sony's conference tomorrow.

The Move bundles will come with either 500GB or 250GB PlayStation 3 models. According to CVG, the consoles will also be equipped with the latest wireless technology, that is, they will have 802.11n Wi-Fi cards that support Internet and network speeds better than those supported by the current 802.11 b/g standard cards included in the consoles. An 802.11n wireless router will, of course, be necessary to access this capability of the PlayStation 3.

Two other bundles aimed at current PlayStation 3 owners were previously announced by Sony: a standalone package for owners of the PlayStation Eye camera and a bundle including Move alongside the PS Eye and a game for those who only had the PlayStation 3 in their possession. Sony promised then that the latter would be priced under 100 dollars, so it is safe to assume that the standalone bundle will be even cheaper.

The PlayStation Move is Sony's answer to Nintendo Wii's success. Like the Wii, it features a remote that is tracked by the PS Eye camera with great precision and that can be used in different family-friendly applications. The Japanese gaming giant has already revealed the Wii Sports-like and party games that will be available for Move at its launch this fall. Unlike the Wii, Sony is targeting not only the wider, casual audience with this device, but also the core gamers. The next SOCOM title, a tactical third-person shooter, will be compatible with Move and various demos of sword and archery combat have been shown by Sony since the announcement of the motion controller at E3 2009.
