Nokia has one of the lowest market shares in North America, as Android devices and Apple's iPhone are “all the rage” these days. The rather “cold” relationship between the Finnish manufacturer and US major carriers is also notorious.

In this regard, the cancellation of Nokia's Nuron 2 launch at T-Mobile a few weeks ago didn't surprise anyone. What's interesting is the fact that the carrier plans to release another Nokia handset, namely the Nokia X2-01 feature-phone.

According to the guys over at Engadget, Nokia X2-01 is expected to be launched at T-Mobile on February 16th.

The device hasn't been price tagged yet, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to find that the carrier will be giving the phone for free with some type of activation or contract.

Nokia X2-01 has been recently made available in India for under $100. It's a commonly known fact that this is one of Nokia's emerging markets strongholds, so it's not surprising that the Indian market is among the first to receive entry-level devices.

The handset may look like a smartphone, but in fact it's a simple feature phone that runs on Nokia's S40 6th Edition UI.

The X2-01 has a small 2.4-inch TFT display with 262K colors support and 320x240 pixels resolution.

The mobile phone measures 119.4 x 59.8 x 14.3 mm and weighs 107.5g, thus being perfectly “pocketable” and well balanced. It packs a sub-par VGA camera (max resolution 640 x 480 pixels) with modest video recording capabilities (176 x 144@15fps).

Other key features of the handset include: GPRS/EDGE class 32, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, 55 MB, 64 MB RAM, 128 MB ROM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 8GB) and Stereo FM radio with RDS.

The phone is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1020 battery rated by the manufacturer for 480 hours of standby or 4 hours and 30 minutes of talk time.
