Interesting, new information about the Nintendo 3DS has appeared, indicating that the future iteration of Nintendo's dual-screen handheld might see a few other fresh features besides the 3D screen. It seems that the 3DS will have an achievement system of some sort, maybe like the PlayStation 3 Trophies or the Xbox 360 Achievements. Furthermore, 3DS owners will be able to install games on the console's internal memory.

The first rumor comes from Ryan Stradling, senior director at Electronic Arts. The exec was referring to some of the online features of the Nintendo 3DS, like checking out friends’ status, getting updates, and, surprise, exchanging achievements. It is not known as of yet what this means exactly, but Nintendo tried this approach in the past and it is no stranger to this kind of reward system.

The second rumor comes from Nikkei, through Andriasang's translation, reporting that the portable console will let one install their games on its internal storage system and play them at a later date. A number of titles can be stored in the memory of the 3DS, thus eliminating the need to carry around and swap multiple cartridges. While this has not been confirmed by Nintendo yet, Nikkei is the source that revealed the existence of the 3DS to the gaming press, so it would be of no surprise if it were right this time around as well.

The Nintendo 3DS was officially revealed this week at Nintendo's E3 press conference. The biggest feature is the stereoscopic tri-dimensional top screen that will not require wearing any kind of 3D glasses. Many games have been unveiled by the company, the highlights being Kid Icarus Uprising and the re-release of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater in 3D. Unfortunately, no launch date or pricing have been announced yet by the Japanese gaming giant. More information will surely follow in the months to come, as the device looked finished while it was displayed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010.
