Casting underway

One of the most talked about launches of the year for the PlayStation 3 has been Heavy Rain, the game developed by Quantic Dream, which told a serial killer story through a complex web of interactions and action sequences, with every sequence allowing the player a variety of choices that determined the way the ending would play out. The creator behind Heavy Rain was David Cage, a videogame developer well known for his innovative approach to the medium. And it seems that his team is already working on a new project, called Horizon.

An inside source has told VG247 that the casting process for the new project is already in full swing, with Cage looking for actors who can play a couple where both members are a little over 20. The source says the game is built around “a curious man raised very insularly meeting a free woman who is hesitant to exercise her freedom.” It seems that the entire experience has a science fiction vibe to it.

It appears that publishing duties will again be handled by Sony, which might just as well go ahead and actually buy the developer, considering the close relationship between the two. The narrative for Horizon is already created by Cage, who said back in March that he was working hard on his next project while also revealing that there were no plans to continue the plot and the ideas seen in Heavy Rain.

The Quantic Dream team seems to be interested in using the same engine and motion capture technology as seen in their latest game to speed up development of their next few projects.

After Heavy Rain came out, Sony put out a small episode detailing the backstory of one of the main characters. It's not clear whether the Quantic Dream studio is working on more content in the same vein or whether it's fully devoted to its next game, Horizon.
