14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 will see the light of day sometime in July or August, but what happens next is a pretty big enigma for all of us, despite all reports that have reached the web in the last few months.
If we are to trust a new bunch of rumors that have come out today, Microsoft has recently finalized its Windows roadmap for the next 5 years, and in addition to updates for Windows 10 (which will be released on a yearly basis), the company is also planning new versions that would be entirely based in the cloud.
This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about such a plan, and previous reports on the matter indicated that Microsoft was looking to developing something similar to Office 365 that would be based in the cloud and would be available with a subscription.
Sometimes called Windows 365, this operating system was never confirmed by Microsoft, but according to Russian leaker WZor, this product is again on the table.
Windows Cloud coming in 2020
Microsoft is reportedly calling this new version of the operating system Windows Cloud, which is the most obvious indication that it would be based in the cloud. Nothing except for this name is known right now, so it’s better to take all these rumors with a grain of salt until Microsoft is actually ready to share more information on this.
But according to these rumors, Windows Cloud is projected to launch in 2020 and to be offered completely free of charge, so given the fact that it should be here in approximately 5 years, we might not hear anything about it until sometime in the next few years.
In the meantime, all eyes are on Windows 10, which itself is a big revolution for Microsoft, and according to the company, it should arrive during the upcoming summer on PCs and laptops.
