Developer Media Molecule is apparently working with Sumo Digital to create the next installment in the Little Big Planet franchise, which has been in development for more than one year.

A source is telling VG247 that Media Molecule is no longer interested in working on the franchise, which combines platforming with user-created content, because it is focusing on the development of its new game, Tearaway.

Sumo Digital was in charge of the patch for Little Big Planet that was launched during 2012 and allowed the PlayStation Vita handheld to be used as a controller for the game.

Sumo Digital might also be involved with moderating user-created content for the previous titles in the series.

The first Little Big Planet was launched during 2008 on the PlayStation 3 and the third core game in the series might be delivered on the yet unannounced PlayStation 4 home consoles from Sony.
