Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC is already known all around the world for the appealing handsets it has delivered to the market with Google's Android operating system on board, including the 1GHz-packed Nexus One sold via Google itself, and it seems that it plans on raising the bar even more. The company is allegedly working on an even more powerful Android phone, one that would boast a 1.5GHz processor inside, dubbed HTC Scorpion.

Most of you might have already encountered the latest rumored devices from HTC, such as the HTC Incredible or the HTC Legend, but it seems that Scorpion will have something even more appealing. AndroidSpin brought to light some info on the phone, delivered by an anonymous source, and it seems that the powerful processor might indeed soon power an Android-based handset.

However, the codename for the device might actually be HTC Olympian, and not Scorpion. The processor expected to be packed inside it should come from Qualcomm, which already unveiled plans to launch a 1.5GHz CPU in late 2010, and which also unveiled the fact that the chip would include two 1.5 GHz Scorpion cores, hence the “htc_scorpion” reference that appeared in the leaked info.

But this might not be all when it comes to the future handset, as mobilecrunch notes. Other details that should be mentioned, according to the news site, include WiMAX support and the next flavor of the Android operating system, called Froyo. Rumors on future mobile phones from HTC that will arrive on the market with WiMAX capabilities on board already emerged, and the name of Android's next version is already known, so it all adds up in the end.

Even so, there are still all the other details on this mobile phone that are still unknown. Considering that Qualcomm said it expected for the first mobile phones powered by the 1.5GHz processor to land only the next year, we might still have a lot to wait before something solid emerges on HTC Scorpion/Olympian, though enthusiasts will certainly start hoping on seeing it sooner on shelves.
