Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC announced back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona its second mobile phone based on the Google Android operating system, the HTC Magic, and also unveiled the fact that the device was to go on sale in the European market through the wireless operator Vodafone.
Since the initial
announcement, we've been able to spot a lot of rumors concerning the launch date of the handset, and now one more is added to the list. According to MobileChoiceUK, the HTC Magic will come exclusively with Vodafone on May 1. Interestingly enough, Vodafone's own site stated at a certain point that the device was to come to the market as soon as April.
There are no details on where the new info on the release date of the Google
Android-powered device came from, yet, in case the rumor proves true, the same should happen with the announced price tag of the device, which is said to come for free with contracts priced £25 and upwards a month.
The info seems to be rather accurate, given the fact that most high-end
mobile phones in the UK are selling for free on £30+ per month contracts, with the iPhone being the only exception to the rule, yet there are no details regarding the length of the agreements the carrier would ask for, as the free tag would apply for 12-month and 18-month contracts.
As many of you might already know, the
HTC Magic (also known as the G2), resembles a lot the G1, only that it does not sport a sliding QWERTY keyboard, which has been replaced with a full touchscreen display. We'll keep an eye on the news to learn when the handset will actually come to the market, and with what price tag, so stay tuned for the details.
