Introduced at Barcelona in February, during the 2011 Mobile World Congress, HP Veer is very close to becoming available on the market.

One of the smallest webOS smartphones, the Veer was initially scheduled to be launched in early spring, but seems to have been delayed for unknown reasons.

According to the guys over at PreCentral, the Veer will be officially launched on the market on May 2nd, when the manufacturer has scheduled an HP Veer Launch Party Event, in Anaheim, California.

Over the three hour event the company will be offering participants “hands-on training, exciting demos and HP giveaways.”

To confirm the AT&T availability of the smartphone, one of the persons who registered for the event was asked to “bring his ID badget or an AT&T/Best Buy Business card” to be able to attend.

This indicates that the rumors suggesting that the HP Veer is likely to be launched by AT&T are indeed true.

Although the phone is expected to run on webOS 2.2 at launch, HP Veer also includes the company's Synergy feature, which enables users to sign in to their Facebook, Google, Microsoft Exchange, LinkedIn, Yahoo! and other accounts and information will automatically populate their phones.

Support for this feature will be extend, so developers can easily plug new Messaging, Contacts and Calendar application sources directly into the core webOS experiences.

Even though the slider measures only 84 x 54.5 x 15.1 mm, the Veer comes with a full QWERTY keyboard on board.

Its 2.6-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 262K colors and 320 x 400 pixels resolution might seem small at first glance, but compared with the phone's body, it's one of the biggest components.

Other key features of the slider include HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, 8 GB of internal user storage, support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta, Wi-Fi mobile hotspot support, integrated GPS and a 5-megapixel camera with enhanced fixed focus and camcorder.
