A QWERTY-enabled Motorola Shadow

Nexus One is the first Android-based mobile phone that comes to the market via Google's own web store; yet, it won't remain alone out there for a long time, most of you might already know that. The search engine-based company itself said that more handsets would be included in its new Android-phone marketing program, and a Nexus Two is expected to land in the near future.

And since Google is working with a wide range of makers around the world, the odds are good that the second Nexus will not come from the Taiwan-based handset vendor HTC. In fact, they are so good that Nexus Two is now rumored to actually be a handset coming from Motorola, which will sport the same form factor as the already popular DROID, basically being its successor.

According to Engadget, this Nexus Two device is at its origins a Motorola Shadow, which is basically a Motorola DROID with a white keyboard and wrist strap, and which actually looks more like an enthusiast rendering. No details on what the device will include emerged for the time being, except for the fact that it should turn into the next flagship mobile phone at Google.

The info remains in the rumor mill for the time being, especially since more solid details on the matter lack, but we can still have a look at the previous reports on this to see what chances are for it to pan out. Google already said that a future enterprise version of Nexus One will include a physical QWERTY keyboard, and the existence of a Nexus Two is thus sustained, but there is nothing to connect the Motorola Shadow with that, one should agree.

Given the fact that the rendering shows a pretty appealing device, we do hope that it will arrive on the market, either as Motorola Shadow or Nexus Two. However, for the time being we'll take the news on it being the successor of Nexus One with a big grain of salt, but we'll keep an eye on the news to learn additional details on the matter, so stay tuned.
