The first BioShock title entertained a lot of gamers due to its complex gameplay mechanics, intuitive cutscenes, which didn't take the player out of the action, and the fact that it was the spiritual successor to the very popular System Shock franchise.
But despite the fact that it was made to be a single title, the big sales it experienced prompted Take Two, the company that owns the rights to the game, to transform it into a franchise and
develop the story as far as it would allow it. Previously teased in the PlayStation 3 version of the original game, the next title, dubbed BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams, has recently been in the industry spotlight due to the viral campaign that 2K Games has been promoting on the
teaser website.
We reported on the
first couple of things that appeared on the site, which told the story of a girl who had been kidnapped just off the coast of Ireland, and over the weekend some new updates and rumors already appeared. First of all, another three cases have been reported on the website, both following the same pattern, of a small little girl being abducted by a tall slender character with superhuman speed and who wore a helmet decorated with a red light. Besides these kidnappings, other reports of people seeing mysterious red lights in the sea around the coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean also appeared.
But the biggest rumor that has been reported by Kotaku, which cites inside sources, is that players will get to see Big Sisters in BioShock 2. That's right, it seems that the big lumbering Big Daddies from the first game, which protected the Little Sisters that collected the precious ADAM from dead bodies across the underwater city of Rapture, will now be replaced by sleek and slender warriors similar to amazons, which will sport the same diver suit gear.
However, despite such rumors, all we can do is wait and see just when 2K Games will reveal some concrete details about the game, which
will arrive this year, presumably at the upcoming Game Developers Conference that will start next week. Until then, we can still refresh the teaser website to see the new reports of abducted little girls.
