It seems that AT&T will soon add to its offering a new Samsung handset, namely the A877. The new device, which features a sliding full-QWERTY keyboard, is rumored to come to the mobile phone carrier as soon as March 29. At the same time, this new mobile phone might also be the Samsung “Jackfrost” that was expected to become available starting this month.

Besides the slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the new Samsung A877 also comes along with a 3.2-inch WQVGA AMOLED touchscreen display. Among the other goodies that the device has to offer there is a 3-megapixel photo snapper, which also features geo-tagging capabilities, as well as GPA functionality and support for AT&T Navigator.

The mobile phone will be able to offer support for quad-band EDGE/GSM and dual-band HSDPA (1900/850) frequencies, while also sporting a full HTML browser. The Korean mobile phone maker included its TouchWiz user interface with the handset, and also packed it with an MP3 player and Bluetooth connectivity.

For the time being, these are the only specifications available for the Samsung A877, besides, of course, the images that surfaced on phonedog. For now it is uncertain whether this is something more than a simple rumor, yet the handset looks appealing and also features the same type of screen Samsung showed back at the MWC show in Barcelona with its Omnia HD device.

The specs of the Samsung A877 show that the device said to come on AT&T does look like an appealing handset, especially since it is not a smartphone, it seems. For what it's worth, we won't have too much to wait until we'll learn for sure whether this was only a rumor or the handset is actually live and heading towards AT&T's airwaves. Stay tuned to learn more details as soon as they surface.
