13-inch iPad prototypes are being tested at Foxconn, reports say

Reports from China indicate that Apple is about to deploy an even larger version of its popular tablet computers at a special event scheduled for spring 2014. The rumor is sketchy, at best.

Padnews.cn reports that Foxconn is testing iPad prototypes with 12.9-inch screens, a rumor that seems to be making a comeback. It’s just as absurd as before. How would anyone wield a 13-inch iPad on a daily basis?

Sure, if you’re a designer and your whole work goes with you everywhere you go, I can see it happening. But Apple doesn’t do niche products. Even the MacBook Pro is a consumer-oriented notebook. The only thing Apple makes exclusively for creatives and enterprise environments is the Mac Pro. But since the buyer shells out several thousand dollars to own one, it makes sense to create it.

It’s pretty impossible for the iPad to climb that ladder. Plus, who needs a 13-inch iPad anyway?
