You know the cute, stylish and really really fragile mobile phones you buy for hundreds of dollars? Well, Samsung Rugby ain't nothing like them. It's rough, tough and it will probably scare your kids when they see it. Then again, this might be the phone to give to your kids, since it's built to withstand very very harsh conditions.

You can kick it, stick it in the sand, leave it in the burning sun or in the rain, forget it in the fridge, and it will still last. You'll probably wonder why. Because Samsung Rugby was built under military specs and is certified to Military Standard MI-SID-810F. This means, you can basically take it with you anywhere, anytime, no matter if it's a trip downtown or you go down the Amazon, you take a walk into Sahara or you climb the Himalayan mountains.

Okay, it is built to last, but that's not all. It has a clamshell design and a 2'' LCD with 65K colors and a 128x60 pixel resolution, push-to-talk (PTT), a 1.3-megapixel camera and camcorder with 4x digital zoom, AT&T Music and Mobile TV service for multimedia, access to email, instant messaging and Internet services, and also an MP3 player.

Samsung Rugby is indeed a rough handset, featuring some hi-tech characteristics, which makes it pretty attractive especially because it's not a very expensive device. The mobile phone is now available from AT&T for about 150 US dollars with a contract agreement, and about 280 US dollars without a contract. So, if you're an active person, always on the run and you don't want to have a show-off phone, but a sturdy, practical one, you might consider buying the rough Samsung Rugby, since it's sure it won't let you down.
