"Italians do it better"

If you are a fan of the psychological horror game Rule of Rose and you live in Italy, you will probably be disappointed. Apparently, Rome's mayor doesn't like this Sony Computer Entertainment game and wants to ban it from sale.

I guess he won't manage to do just that, but he is outraged, as Joystiq reports, stating that there is no way that a violent game should be sold and distributed in his country. Maybe he has no idea about GTA: San Andreas, Postal or God of War. These are titles sold in HIS country.

If you were to ask me, Rule of Rose should not be banned in Italy, as neither was the case in Japan and North America. Are Italian kids more sensitive or what? I believe NOT! The game is set in 1930s England, where a young girl called Jennifer is trapped in a world ruled by young girls.

These girls establish a hierarchy called the Red Crayon Aristocrats. This is also criticized by Joystiq editors, who state that Rule of Rose has "erotic themes". When did erotic themes become a taboo subject for video games? I haven't tried the game until now, but from what I can tell is not half bad, especially me being a fan of the Silent Hill series.
