"Obscene cruelty and brutality"

I'm sure that many of you were expecting the psychological horror game, Rule of Rose today. But apparently, 505 Games does not want to have anything more to do with this game, so they won't publish it anymore.

Of course, this applies for the U.K. only, as Rule of Rose was released in September in the States and in January in Japan. I'm sorry for all you U.K. gamers but these are the facts, at least this is what EuroGamer says.

Rule of Rose has encountered a lot of criticism on behalf of the Mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni, who said that he wants to ban this game from sale in Italy because it has violent and erotic themes. European Justice and Security Commissioner, Franco Frattini also was appalled by Rule of Rose, stating that it has scenes of obscene cruelty and brutality.

If you were to ask me, all these statements about Rule of Rose have no grounds, as both the European Justice Commissioner and the Mayor of Rome, did not have anything to say about some games that were way more violent than Rule of Rose, games such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, not to mention Postal.
