Six months after the official launch of BlackBerry Curve 9360, RIM releases another color flavor of the smartphone, ruby. The smartphone has just been introduced in Canada via Rogers and is now available for a mere $0.01 with a new three-year agreement.

Currently, BlackBerry Curve 9360 is available in four color-schemes: black, purple, pink and ruby. Previously rumored as BlackBerry Curve Apollo, this is one of the first entry-level BlackBerry OS 7 smartphones introduced on the market.

The handset is equipped with a mid-power 800 MHz single-core processor and packs 512 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The selling points of the phone are the BlackBerry 7 operating system, NFC (Near Field Communications) support, as well as the affordable price.

According to Research In Motion, “staying social has never looked this cool, or been this easy. Sleek style meets simplicity with the new BlackBerry Curve 9360 smartphone.”

Obviously, the smartphone comes with a traditional QWERTY keyboard, allowing for fast and accurate typing. In addition, Curve 9360 sports a small 2.44-inch standard display that supports 480 x 360 pixels resolution.

“The new BlackBerry Curve delivers the classic BlackBerry experience, with an iconic BlackBerry keyboard with simple navigation, precise optical trackpad, and new, advanced, yet easy to use, BlackBerry 7 OS software,” claims Research In Motion.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper, which features LED flash, image stabilization and VGA video recording.

Aside from NFC support, the smartphone also offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, HSDPA and HSUPA connectivity, as well as microUSB 2.0 and GPS with A-GPS support.

BlackBerry Curve 9360’s 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 336 hours of standby (288 hours in 3G mode) or up to 5 hours of talk time.
