The Argon Ocelote has 8,200 max DPI and integrated memory

Mice can be really overkill if their creators are struck by the MMO mood, but for most games it's enough to have seven or nine buttons, especially if you can program them. This is the type of thinking behind the Argon Ocelote World gaming mouse.

Developed by peripheral maker Ozone, the new mouse is powered by laser sensing technology, meaning that it's about as precise as you can hope.

And since gaming peripherals need to look as good as they run, Ozone also made sure to design it in a fancy manner, although the color scheme might be a bit odd: black and orange. At least it's not the brightest possible orange.

An 8200 DPI Laser Sensor (ADNS 9800 Enhanced Laser Gaming Sensor) acts as the foundation for the device.

Its maximum sensitivity probably won't be used outside real-time strategy gaming on multi-monitor or large 4K screens. But it's good to know we have the option.

For every other scenario, On-The-Fly adjustment allows you to go from 100 to 8200 DPI, with default levels being of 800, 1,800, 4,000 and 8,200.

The overall design of the mouse is ambidextrous, meaning that you'll find it just as comfortable to use with your left hand as with the right. A better grip and feel could perhaps have been enabled if a purely right-handed (or alternatively left-handed) shape had been chosen, but this way, it expands the customer base, if nothing else.

128KB of memory are included as well, so that the mouse itself may store the sensitivity setting and the macro functions, since all nine buttons are programmable and five profiles can be stored.

In fact, they have ultra-rapid response and switch tech, with the main buttons powered by Omron switches. Ozone specifically mentions the benefits to weapon use in shooters.

Finally, the new peripheral has an adjustable weight system and is coated in rubber that will prevent your grip from slipping, plus four orange LED lights.

Availability and pricing

The Ozone Argon Ocelote gaming mouse hasn't been given a price tag, unfortunately, but sales should start on January 12, so we suppose we don't have that much time to wait at this point.

"I'm not an expert when it comes down to DPIs, laser sensors and so on... But what I'm good at is knowledge what I'm playing with is comfortable and simply good, or not. After testing many different shape designs, sensors and textures with the ozone engineering team we have developed the best mouse I have ever tested. Argon Ocelote is extremely comfortable, amazingly precise and it has the quality a professional player needs in game," says Ozone about Argon Ocelote World.
