USD 1700 for mobile gold and diamonds

The Chinese seem to have everything when it comes to mobile phones. They copied the iPhone, Nokia handsets and anything that has been successful on outer markets throughout times. Now they also have their own luxury line of handsets, with the Royal III being the most expensive one. And a striking resemblance to Vertu phones too.

Royal III has been designed by VX, a Chinese handset producer. It looks highly similar to the Vertu line of devices coming from Nokia, starting with the shape, button shape and down to the precious metal frame. As it usually happens with luxury mobile phones, there is nothing impressive that they have to offer in terms of specifications. Still, they cost a huge amount of money, mainly on account of the materials used in manufacturing them.

Royal III has inlay zircon and is plated with 24k gold. This should make it feel more like a heavy ingot in the user's pocket and far from a regular device. Sounds very unpractical and makes this handset more of a show-off item rather than a technologically evolved one.

The phone has a 1.9 inch LCD 2.6k TFT screen. That will impress nobody, just as it is the case with all other specifications aside from those containing the word "gold". The phone proves to be quite large, by any standards, at 44.5 x 114 x 15 mm and should be quite heavy too.

Other specifications include WAP support, as well as Bluetooth and GPRS connectivity. There is also an FM radio to take care of the entertainment. Moreover, the user can store a large amount of personal data on the T-FLASH 1 GB memory. The phone can also take average quality pictures with the 2 megapixel camera that it packs.

Royal III is available for purchase at the price of USD 1700. Of course, its performances make only a tiny amount of the entire price. The gold and diamonds used for the phone's casing fill up the rest of the bill.
