Matt Lauer nabbed the interview of a lifetime (or, at the very least, the best one in some time) when he got Pippa Middleton, sister of Duchess of Cambridge, to sit down with him for a chat. The interview aired at the beginning of the week but it mostly generated hilarity online, because of some of the things Pippa said.

Like how she viewed Kate’s wedding to Prince William as “just a family wedding” and didn’t understand why everyone made so much fuss about it until she saw people running down the street for a first glimpse at the bride.

Or how she felt “bullied” by the media for all the attention she got for her backside in that white dress she wore at the Royal Wedding.

Regardless, this was Pippa’s first TV interview ever. For a woman who is so famous and so loved, this is truly something else, so Lauer gets the credit for being the first to get to chat with her.

Unfortunately for Pippa, this has made the Royal Family furious with her because, Radar Online says, she didn’t ask them for permission before agreeing to do the interview. She didn’t even inform them she was about to do it.

“They are furious with Pippa. They wish that she would shut up. It is obvious that she wants to define her identity and step out of her sister’s shadow. However, she needs to know her place,” one source dishes for the e-zine.

Pippa should have informed them of her plans and she should have waited for them to give her their ok. She would have probably also received training on how to handle questions and which topics she must stay clear of.

Since she did none of these, the Royal Family is “livid” with her, for going “behind their Royal backs” with her first TV interview.

In the end, Pippa might still be the one who laughs last: she spoke in the interview about her charity work, but she also has a new book coming out soon, which will probably benefit from the exposure she just got.

Word online has it that she’s even been offered a job with the NBC as London correspondent because she came off so well on camera but, for the time being, that’s still to be confirmed.

Embedded below is the segment of the interview in which Pippa talks about the Royal Wedding and that dress that made her backside look so spectacular. Her claim that she thought the wedding would be “just a family affair” is beyond ridiculous.
