Hours after Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement, women from all over the world – but especially in the UK – were looking to buy her blue dress or, at the very least, a good copy of it. It’s happening again.

Over the weekend, the royal couple sat for two brand new engagement official portraits, one of which shows Kate wearing a white Nanette gown.

It’s already a hot item online, with several of them popping up on various sites, claiming to be the same dress worn by Kate in the official pics, the Daily Mail informs.

It shouldn’t be long until copies of it appear in stores, which speaks volumes of Kate’s potential as a trend-setter.

“She is suddenly the woman who can trigger a fashion goldrush in minutes. No sooner had Kate Middleton and Prince William released their engagement photos yesterday than online clothing sellers were cashing in on the stunning white dress she wore,” the Mail writes.

This kind of offer, even if it’s not genuine, proves there’s a very good market for anything even remotely related to the upcoming royal wedding.

“The Reiss belted Nanette gown with three-quarter length sleeves and a frill along the zip was advertised on eBay yesterday as ‘new’ for £179,” the Mail goes on to say.

“The same dress – which, the seller warned, has dusty shoulders and may need dry cleaning – was for sale on the auction website a week ago for just £99,” the tab further writes.

The dress that Kate donned for one of the photos – the more “formal” one – is from the past autumn / winter season, cost £159 and is no longer available in stores, the publication reports.

Still, given the amount of interest in the young royal couple and how much women would like to replicate Kate’s style, one shouldn’t be that amazed if it is re-released soon – or if other brands come out with similar items.
