Only yesterday, the staff at Delhi Zoo had to say goodbye to the last male Royal Bengal tiger still living at this animal sanctuary. The animal reportedly died of multiple organ failure during the evening.

Veterinarians say that, since Ramu was 20 years old, there was little left to do to save his life. More so seeing how, over these past few months, the tiger's age turned the animal immobile.

“It was suffering from various age related problems for the last few months and was being treated regularly for that,” zoo veterinarian Paneer Selvam told the press.

“It succumbed yesterday due to lung, liver and kidney failure,” he added.

Now that Ramu is dead, just four Royal Bengal tigresses are left to entertain visitors to this animal sanctuary.

The staff working at Delhi Zoo promise that it will not be long until they bring in another tiger and restart their breeding program for this species.
