Rovio References Portal “Cake” in Angry Birds 3.0 Update

Rovio Entertainment has released a major update for the original Angry Birds game on iOS platforms featuring 30 new levels and a cake that packs “a BIG punch,” according to the Finnish studio.

Rovio is celebrating three years of Angry Birds (yeah, we can’t believe it either) with a uber update packing 30 extra levels featuring the bubbly pink bird, and cake.

“But watch out for the cake -- it's not a lie, but it packs a BIG punch!” says Rovio, in what is undoubtedly a reference to GLaDOS’ surreal cake in Portal, a first-person puzzler by Valve.

15 of the new levels are Bad Piggies-themed, says the developer. The game also gains full iPhone 5 support, which means you’ll no longer see those dark stripes on the sides of your screen. The game is compatible with all iDevices capable of running iOS 4.3 or later.
