The three come in 750W, 850W and 1000W power outputs

This year's Computex trade show, which took place between June 3 and June 7 in Taipei, Taiwan, was host to a lot of different companies. Rosewill was among the ones with the largest exhibitions, much of which was accounted for by power supply units.

It's looking more and more as if power supplies have exhausted all the new things they can bring to the table, up to and including high efficiency. There isn't anything groundbreaking or amazing about them anymore.

Oh sure, they can have really high power outputs, cool modular cabling design and a kicking paint job, but there's no novelty anymore. PSUs really have become that indispensable part of PCs that no one will really remember by brand or name for long.

Still, that doesn't mean that PSUs can't stand out. It just means that they don't leave people gasping in stupefaction, even when they have an efficiency high enough to warrant 80 Plus Titanium or Platinum rating.

In the case of the Rosewill Quark series, it's 80 Plus Platinum efficiency that we're getting, meaning 90% efficiency at 20% load, 90% at 50% load, and 89% at 100% load.

That puts them a step behind the EVGA 1600W 80 Plus Titanium models, and the Toughpower Titanium 1500W from Thermaltake too.

Speaking of which, the power outputs of the Rosewill Quark are a fair bit lower as well. Rather than hardcore systems, they are meant to power “milder” high-end PCs, if there is such a thing.

So you see, the Rosewill Quark 80 Plus Platinum PSUs have 750W, 850W and 1000W outputs, respectively. In all cases, a single +12V rail design is used, as well as a pair of 8-pin EPS power connectors.

Twelve SATA ports are included as well, for more storage support than you're ever likely to need, especially given the emergence of PCI Express and M.2 SSDs (which plug straight into the motherboard and get power from there).

The only thing that sets the newcomers apart, other than the wattage, is the number of PCI Express power connectors. The count is of four 8-pin PCI Express cables to eight.

Rosewill's Quark line of modular 80 Plus Platinum PSUs all have diagnostic LEDs and should be up for sale soon, if they aren't already. Alas, the prices weren't disclosed at Computex 2014. They're bound to be high, of course, perhaps of over $250 / €250 for the 1000W model, if not the others.
