Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler Get Cover Spots for PGA Tour 13

Video game developer EA Sports has announced that the official cover image for the upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will feature Rickie Fowler, in North America, and Rory McIlroy, in Europe, with Bubba Watson and Luke Donald being the rather unlucky runner-ups.

Craig Evans, who is the marketing director working at EA Sports, has stated, “Over the past several weeks we’ve been thrilled to witness the passion of our fans for this competition as well as the golfers who have actively rallied their fan base for this unique honor. Fan engagement has been critical to the development and success of the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR franchise over the past decade and it’s great to see so many fans excited about the cover vote and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13.”

Fans of the golfing simulation had about three weeks to vote on the official Facebook page and choose the cover stars from a line up of 16 super star golfers.

More than 250,000 votes were received from no less than 35 countries around the world.

Rory McElroy, past and present cover star, added, “Appearing on the cover of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11 was an amazing experience and helped introduce me to a whole new fan base around the world. But this year holds special meaning because it was the fans who decided to put me on the cover once again.”

Fowler also declared his delight and excitement at being chosen for the cover of Tiger Woods PGA 13, a game that seems to have less and less to do with the star that is part of its name.

EA Sports has also announced that it will deliver a The Masters Collector's Edition for its golf simulation, which will have a whole new cover and will include five additional gold courses, including the Tournament Practice Facility at Augusta National.
