Ronaldo Has to Lose 5 Kilograms Before the World Cup Gets Under Way

It seems like fighting the extra kilograms is the main preoccupation - nowadays - for Real Madrid strikers. A few days ago, after writing an article about how Antonio Cassano was trying to get rid of a few kg by the end of the summer, now we're talking about the man he was competing with for the unofficial title of "Madrid Fatty": Ronaldo.

This time, though, the madrilène doctors and dieticians have nothing to do with it. Carlos Alberto Parreira, the Brazilian coach for this World Cup, is very unhappy with Ronaldo's weight.
Totally unsatisfied with the physical parameters that his player is managing, Parreira forced him to have an urgent diet by the beginning of the World Cup. As a consequence of that, the Brazilian striker is to reach 77 kilograms by the 9th of June, which means 5 kilograms less than he weights right now.

This way, Ronaldo could go back in time - as his weight is concerned, of course - when crossing over the 80 kg limit was only a nightmare. From now on, the Real Madrid superstar will have to eat only vegetarian food, lots of salads and veggie soups, entering the countdown for the World Cup. If we were to make fun of the situation a little bit, we could say that the German competition has already started for Ronaldo. More, besides the diet he has to go through, he was given the advice to play a lot of table-tennis, which - in Parreira's opinion - burns a lot of calories.

In other news about the "Selecao", coach Parreira decided to launch his pre-World Cup preparations against small and unknown teams. Not wanting to play against football "powers" like England, Italy, Germany or France, he said that: "we are more preoccupied in terms of bringing the squad together and follow a certain number of parameters, so the easy matches are just the way to do that". As a result of that, Brazil beat the "juniors" from Fulminense 17-1 in their first preparation game before the World Cup.
