The Chelsea - Barcelona clash Champions League group stage is probably the headline of all English and Spanish newspapers and sports bulletins. And it's just right to be so, since the two clubs have started a great rivalry inside European football. Almost every time they've met, both Barcelona and Chelsea made it all worthwhile.
Now, after finding out that they will again meet English rivals, Barcelona seems not at all threatened by competition in Group A. More, their sportive director announced that the Catalans are aiming for the top spot in the group.
Ronaldinho, on the other hand, admitted that playing Chelsea would be pretty difficult, but played down rumors of being scared by Mourinho's revenge.
"We know all about how good Chelsea's signings are. They have an impressive squad and their summer signings can't fail to improve them. But I believe we don't have to worry about the others. There is no such thing as an unstoppable team", said the Brazilian star.
More, the Player of the Year admitted that Chelsea's transfer season was pretty impressive, but that Barca is not doing bad herself when talking about new signings: "Shevchenko is an impressive forward that gave Barca some serious problems when he played for AC Milan a season ago. And Ballack is a midfield player that would be able to play for any team in Europe. But, evidently, the arrival of two world champions like Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta can only improve us more".
It would be Eidur Gudjohnsen's first time to play against Chelsea in the European season, only months away from playing FOR the English side in the Premiership. Ronaldinho picked up on that too: "Our other new player, Eidur Gudjohnsen, is a player I've always liked. When I saw him play for Chelsea he seemed like a very complete type of footballer. He is a great player and I believe Gudjohnsen will improve our team a lot this season".
Chelsea will first meet Barcelona on the 18th of October, on Stanford Bridge.
