Leading man says he didn’t know Guillermo del Toro wanted to see the film made

A “Hellboy” threequel has been on fans' wishlist for years, so hearing famous (and extremely busy) director Guillermo del Toro say at Comic-Con 2012 that he'd raise funds for it was great news. As it happens, Ron Perlman had no idea about all this.

As fans rejoice that del Toro has promised to personally oversee “Hellboy 3” by getting the funds needed to make it possible, Perlman says he didn't even know there still was any interest in the franchise.

“The only thing that I heard was when I was sitting next to him, when he spontaneously made the announcement that he was going to start actively searching for the funding for the film,” he tells MTV.

“And he's been very busy in post-production since Comic-Con. I haven't seen or spoken to him, so I only know as much as you guys. If I have a scoop, I'll give you a call!” the actor adds.

Indeed, del Toro is one of the busiest directors of the day, which makes the threequel less of a possibility if only for the simple reason that he can't possible fit it as well on his already full plate.
