The teams at developer The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA have already announced the launch date for Total War: Rome 2 and are now ready to offer information on the Collector’s Edition for the game, which will include some unique physical objects.

The Tabula Set represents a precursor of backgammon, with 30 bone-like pieces, a burlap drawstring bag and a board that’s included in the base of the package.

Tesserae Dice will offer three six-sided bone-like dice that are based on an original Roman concept, which was previously found at Herculaneum.

Gamers also get access to Total War Cards: Punic Wars, a card game designed to mimic the unique features of the PC game, with mechanics focused on combat, territory control and resource management.

The game includes 58 playing cards and a special board with the Punic Wars tech tree.

The Total War Collector’s Edition will also include a complete Roman onager, a special siege catapult that players can assemble using wood and steel.

The piece measures 26cm x 12cm x 12cm and can be used to actually launch small projectiles.

The two companies say that they only plan to manufacture 22,000 units of the Rome 2 Collector’s Edition, which means that fans who want to get it should move fast.

Those who pre-order the new strategy title will also get access to the first downloadable content pack at no extra cost, which adds Athens, Sparta and Epirus as playable factions with unique content.

Total War: Rome 2 will take players back to the Ancient world and will allow them to pick a faction and then try to rule Europe and the Mediterranean basin.

The game has more social, economic and political options and gamers will also have to devise new tactics to deal with the improved Artificial Intelligence.
