The hackers left a message, but since it was in Turkish probably not many understood it

On January 18, 2012, fans of the Romanian singer Inna who visited her site were automatically redirected to a protest message left by a Turkish hacker group called DarkDevilz Crew.

The Hacker News informs that the Video page’s source code had been altered so that anyone who accessed it would be redirected to a site hosted on a Turkish domain.

Judging by the defacement site, the hackers didn’t have anything personal with the pop star, they just took advantage of the fact that the site was not secured properly, probably relying on her popularity to make their message known to the world.

The protest message left by the DarkDevilz Crew presents a short history of Turkey to highlight the suffering of the county’s citizens.

The hacktivists probably witnessed Inna’s growing popularity in Europe and they thought that a large number of Internet users may see their message. On the other hand, since the message was in Turkish, I don’t know if many people understood what they wanted.

At the time of writing, the website is repaired, the malicious redirect having been removed.
