Prior to the meeting that takes place today in Brussels with NATO’s Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Romania’s President Traian Basescu revealed in a press conference that the Balkan country could have a great contribution to the cyber defense of member states.

“Romania could be an important contributor to the ‘Smart Defense’ concept regarding cyber security – we have so many talented hackers that could be utilized in a positive manner for the protection of cyber systems possessed by NATO member states,” President Basescu said.

Local reports hint that Romania may offer hackers to NATO because they can’t afford to purchase the 48 fighter jets requested by the organization.
