Earlier today, we learned that the hacker Guccifer had breached the online accounts of several high-profile individuals, including entertainers and officials. One of them is George Maior, the head of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI).

The hacker has told The Smoking Gun that he had gained access to Maior’s Yahoo account.

The intelligence agency’s representatives, cited by MEDIAFAX, say the account is one of Maior’s old private accounts, which he had used before becoming the director of SRI. Furthermore, he had allegedly only used the account for academic purposes.

The agency notes that legal measures will be taken. They’re confident that the hacker, who they call “Little Guccifer,” will be caught some day and “tried according to the law.”

Maior is not the first Romanian official targeted by Guccifer. A few months ago, he revealed details of an alleged extramarital affair between former US Secretary of State Colin Powell and Corina Cretu, a Romanian diplomat and politician, member of the European Parliament.
