Romania Wins Inaugural Smart TV Angry Birds Finals

A team from Romania is the first winner of the Samsung Smart TV Angry Birds Finals that took place in London, beating a total of 19 other teams.

The competition started with a treasure hunt through the streets of the city and then moved on to actual Angry Birds matches, all of them using motion controls, against celebrities including: Olympic medalist and Strictly Come Dancer star Lewis Smith, The Only Way Is Essex lovelies Jessica Wright and Sam Faiers and singer Alexis Jordan.

Lewis Smith stated after the match that, “I was playing to win. But the European champions are incredible. As a keen gamer, I need to get back to practising and get on top of my game!”

Harri Koponen, the chief operations officer at developer Rovio, says that the Samsung Smart TV Angry Birds Finals showed the incredible fan base for the game and the skills of the best players.

Angry Birds is available on a variety of platforms, including home consoles, PC, mobile phones and Smart TVs.
