free-hotspot.com has announced today that Romania's Azuga town has become the second largest Free HotSpot Area in Europe. The company has decided to take the successful initiative it has also undertaken in Szklarska Poreba, Poland, to another European country, namely Romania.

The company, which has recently announced it had installed over 3,000 free HotSpots across 18 European countries, will bring to Azuga locals the benefits of wireless Internet access. Azuga is one of Romania's most visited cities by tourists, mainly during the winter. The Azuga resort has provided a favorable business environment for national or international investors and is now one of Romania's youngest tourist resorts, with a high financial growth potential.

The development of the Free HotSpot Area is going to be finalized in collaboration with the local Azuga authorities. "We are looking to provide our citizens and tourists with free Wi-Fi, in a way in which our business community can benefit from," said Adrian Purcaru, mayor of Azuga. "Still, we have tried to do this without lowering the city's budget. free-hotspot.com succeeded to meet both issues, while working with our local contractors in order to provide free Wi-Fi in Azuga," the mayor added.

Joe Brunoli, Vice-President of HotSpot Market Development for free-hotspot.com, described the advantages of the Free HotSpot Area project. "Officials all over Europe are looking for ways to offer Free Wi-Fi to their local communities," Joe Brunoli stated. "Azuga is good example concerning this type of solution, namely a common effort from both the authorities and the local business environment."

free-hotspot.com is the 2006 winner of the prestigious Wireless Broadband Innovation Award for Best Public Wi-Fi Product. Its innovative system has been made available to wireless network operators as well as hospitality chains and other organizations, under the brand name of EDGE Messaging.
