The Rolling Stones will release their first album in eight years, "A Bigger Bang" on Virgin Records, to celebrate Mick Jagger's 62nd birthday. "A Bigger Bang", produced by Don Was, will be released in the United States on Sept. 6 and a day earlier internationally.
"While in the studio recording the album last year, the band came up with the title, A Bigger Bang, reflecting their fascination with the scientific theory about the origin of the universe," the Stones said in a statement from New York yesterday.
The album's first single will be "Streets of Love." Other songs include "Rough Justice," "It Won't Take Long," "Laugh, I Nearly Died," "Rain Fall Down" and the "Back of My Hand." In addition, Richards sings lead vocals on "Infamy" and "This Place Is Empty."
A Bigger Bang will also include "Oh No, Not You Again", which was launched during a press conference in May, at New York's Juilliard School, when Rolling Stone announced their 2005 tour.
The band's last studio album was the 1997 platinum-selling Bridges to Babylon.
