Atari released the first in-game screenshots from the upcoming RollerCoaster Tycoon World, the reboot of the long-dormant simulation series.

The images offer us a first proper look at the game, showing what it has to offer and highlighting its main features. Roller coasters are built using a spline system, allowing you to alter tracks on the fly, in a much more freeform manner, no longer being required to go inside a menu and select specific track parts.

Furthermore, all of the attractions will be ridable, in both first and third person, so you can see what your customers are enjoying. Even more, a brand new "Park Pulse" feature will offer an instant look at how well your park is doing, enabling you to see what areas you should improve and what your customers think about the rides.

The developers also mentioned that they were exploring all available options for the game when asked by PCGamer whether or not the final version would include support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, which is pretty much set to become the go-to gadget for theme park rides.

The upcoming sim title will allow up to four players to take part in cooperative multiplayer and design a park at the same time, although each of the participants will be limited to their own section.

Players will also be able to upload roller coaster blueprints to other players, as well as to download various track designs created by other people, and use them in their parks.

The images that Atari revealed show that RollerCoaster Tycoon World has a bunch of themed areas, including a 1950s Americana, Wild West, Science Fiction and Pirate-themed ones.

Given that many players were put off by last year's cash grab, RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile, publisher Atari made sure to emphasize on different occasions that the upcoming building and simulation game was a completely different experience, intended to hit home with long-standing fans of the series, with the core audience of the classic RollerCoaster Tycoon games.

As such, the company decided to stay away from the tap farming, freemium world of mobiles, promising not to include any microtransactions in the upcoming video game.

Moreover, the title will be recreated in the image of the old games, with players being able to customize pretty much everything, from the price of hot dogs to which kind of free soda will be on tap.

However, the main course served by the simulation will be roller coaster creation, which is designed to be intuitive and to allow players to create exactly the kind of rides they want.

RollerCoaster Tycoon World is currently in development at Pipeworks Software, with an "early 2015" release window, headed for Windows PC for the time being.
