Women know that all those fabulous looking pumps are double more fabulous simply because they’re a pain to walk in, not to mention dance all night long; therefore, there is some sense of gratification in being able to wear them. At least, that’s how word in the fashion industry goes. Coming to make the best of both worlds meet, Matt Horan invented the Rollasoles, ballet shoes that sell from vending machines in clubs and are the perfect replacement for the aforementioned killer heels.

The idea might sound a bit odd at first – after all, who wants to go out to a club to party looking the very image of glamour only to end the night in common ballet flats? And, while this question does make a lot of sense at a first glance, the truth of the matter is that most ladies would literally kill for a change of shoes after a couple of hours of dancing in those incredibly fabulous and unbelievably painful pumps. This is how Rollasoles came into being.

Matt Horan, the inventor of these truly revolutionary shoes, says he came up with the idea in a moment of drunken epiphany and after growing sick of giving his petite girlfriend (who loves wearing high heels, that much is understood) piggyback rides on the way home from a nightclub. First, he realized he must make flats available to women in the wee hours of morning, when the party is still raging on but all ladies are this close to fainting from the pain their high heels are causing. Thus, the idea of installing vending machines in clubs came naturally.

Rollasoles are not only extremely practical, they’re also stylish, it has been said. A pair sells for £5 (approximately $8), and comes with a fancy bag in which to put the high-heeled shoes after slipping on the flats. These are called Rollasoles because they come rolled up as small balls, so that more pairs can fit into vending machines. Sizes range from small to large, and there is even a range of choices in terms of color, so women can actually match the flats to whatever they’re wearing on that specific night. Black, silver and girlie pink are the colors available as of now.

Rollasoles have already been tested in several UK nightclubs and Matt Horan expanded the business after seeing that the flats were literally selling like hot cakes. Talks of taking the revolutionary vending machines to the US, Australia and even Ibiza have been going on for some time but, at the moment, nothing definite has yet been made public.
