Roland Martin is the latest contributor to leave CNN. The journalist, former radio host and author joined the network in 2007 and has just confirmed on his Twitter feed that he’ll be leaving.

“yes, last day at @cnn is April 6,” Martin writes.

As for the reasons he has for leaving, Martin suggests that new chief Jeff Zucker and himself don’t see eye to eye or, at the very least, are not on the same page on certain topics.

“new boss wants his own peeps,” he tells one of his Twitter followers when asked why he’s leaving.

More recently, Martin was suspended for one month after GLAAD and various other civil rights groups wrote to CNN to complain about a tweet he sent out during the Super Bowl.

It told male followers to beat up whoever of their male friends would get too hyped about the highly mediated H&M commercial with David Beckham.

Understandably, the tweet was considered offensive and homophobic.
