Cellar Door Games has just confirmed that their 2D roguelike platformer Rogue Legacy is coming to the Xbox One computer entertainment system this year.

The information comes from the company's Twitter account, where a user queried them whether or not we would be seeing the popular indie roguelike pop up on Microsoft's latest game console anytime soon.

The incredibly popular game made some waves when it was released in June 2013, and the developers mentioned that it turned a profit within the first hour of existence, going on to sell over 100k copies during its launch week alone.

A year later, in July 2014, the platformer made the jump to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 consoles from Sony, and now it looks like it's finally headed to the Xbox One home console.

Xbox gamers will finally get to taste death

Rogue Legacy is a pretty difficult game, tasking gamers with exploring a randomly generated dungeon where they can find a ton of enemies, puzzles and even scary bosses.

Characters can jump, slash with their sword, and even cast magical attacks, and the entire game is based on the concept of genealogy. When you die, you can select to play again as one of your offspring, with various hereditary traits, such as dwarfism, color-blindness or ADHD, making the player move faster.

Any gold that the player finds during their adventure is passed on to the heirs, which means that gamers are able to gradually improve their chances to survive in the dungeon, by getting better and better gear.

As they advance, players can unlock various magical upgrades, enabling them to double jump, dash, and perform other such flashy moves.

Rogue Legacy becomes pretty accessible because of the constant progression, but players cannot increase in power past a certain point, in order to keep the game challenging.

The game even supports New Game+ mode, enabling a user that completes it with a specific line of descendants to have a go at it again, with increased difficulty but also with bigger rewards offered by enemies and chests.
