Canadian mobile phone carrier Rogers Wireless is set to soon make available for its users yet another appealing device powered by Google's Android operating system, the Acer Liquid e. the handset has been officially unveiled to the world last week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and computer maker Acer announced that Rogers would be the first wireless operator in Canada to launch its new Android 2.1-based device.

“Rogers is very excited to be partnering with a highly respected global brand like Acer to bring the Acer Liquid e to Canadians consumers,” said John Boynton, executive vice-president, Marketing, Rogers. “By exclusively launching, the first Acer smartphone in Canada, we are once again demonstrating our industry-leading ability to be first to bring to market the latest and greatest mobile devices Canadians are asking for, and adding to our already impressive line-up of Android-enabled devices.”

The new Acer Liquid e comes with a nice range of features to the market, as pointed out before. Among them, we can count a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, though running only at 768MHz, which is coupled with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM, or the 5-megapixel digital camera with auto focus capabilities. In addition, the new device comes with a large 3.5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display, which can deliver a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

Other specifications and features of the new Acer Liquid e, the successor of liquid A1, also include built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS, a microSD memory card slot with support for memory cards of up to 32GB, Bluetooth connectivity options, support for email and messaging (including MMS and IM), support for a wide range of Google services, Internet access via a new version of the Android browser, and many other more.
