Sierra Wireless announced that its AirCard 860 wireless card is available in Canada from Rogers Wireless. The AirCard 860 is designed to operate on Rogers' recently launched HSDPA network.

"Sierra Wireless products are available all over the world, but it is always gratifying to launch them in Canada," said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Sierra Wireless.
"We are pleased to support Rogers Wireless in its HSDPA network rollout, and deliver the speed and performance of the AirCard 860 to the Canadian market."

The AirCard 860 is a 3G wireless WAN Type II PC Card with a slim, unextended design, allowing users to conveniently store the card inside the laptop with the antenna attached. Fully functional on HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS networks, the AirCard 860 utilizes the 850 and 1900 MHz UMTS frequency bands common to North American UMTS networks, offering average data rates of 600 kbps to 1 Mbps on Rogers' HSDPA network. In areas where HSDPA network coverage is not available, these cards will connect to EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks and enable international roaming on all four frequency bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz) used worldwide.

The AirCard 860 is available at Rogers Wireless locations or on www.Rogers.com. Fido customers will be able to purchase the card starting November 24, online at www.Fido.ca. Pricing starts at $49.99 with a three-year contract.
