Canadian mobile phone carrier Rogers Wireless and Finnish handset maker Nokia announced on Monday the release of Nokia 7510, a new Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)-enabled device. The handset, the duo says, is meant to offer Canadian mobile phone users easy access between a cellular and wireless home Internet connection, and is available on Rogers TalkSpot.

The new Nokia 7510 comes with support for Rogers Wireless’ GSM network, while also featuring Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling users to enjoy both enhanced mobility as well as a leveraged communication experience. Rogers TalkSpot customers can benefit from unlimited local calling at home, without using their airtime minutes. At the same time, the new handset will automatically switch to the GSM network as soon as the user leaves the home calling zone, without dropping the call.

“The Nokia 7510 together with Rogers TalkSpot provides consumers the flexibility of using their cellular and wireless home internet connections, without the inconvenience of switching phones,” said Richard White, general manager of Nokia Canada. “The Canadian availability of this handset is another example of the wide range of fashionable and functional devices available in Nokia's product lineup that offer the best technology to consumers.”

In addition to the connectivity options, the new Nokia 7510 also comes with two stylish Xpress-on changeable covers that enable users to personalize their devices either in fatal red or storm blue. Moreover, the external display of the device features attractive light effects visible when showing information such as caller ID.

The mobile phone comes in a flip form factor, and brings a 2.2-inch QVGA display that boasts a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and support for 16 million colors, a 2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, the OSS browser capable of providing a PC-like browsing experience, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space, as well as up to 6 hours of talk time or 12 days of standby time.

The Nokia 7510 can be purchased from Rogers Wireless’ retail locations for $49.99 upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement with the carrier.
