This represents a really big step for Rogers, mainly if we consider the fact that very few networks around the globe are capable of boasting the performances it has reached. The Canadian mobile operator has outdone itself this time by upgrading its network to a 3.5 one that is going to provide for its users downloading speeds of 7.2MB/s on the national network.

Now, Rogers represents the first mobile operator in North America to be offering the next generation network availability. Not only that, but it is also one of the very few, out of the 1,000 carriers around the globe, to operate at such speeds.

This new update really improves the mobile opportunities Rogers users are offered, by allowing them to communicate in newer and better ways than before, and also to download multimedia, or any large files in general, at super speeds. Another result is that all Internet connections are now similar to broadband ones, which can only mean good news for mobile users.

Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Rogers Wireless, John Boynton, stated about Rogers new capabilities that, "With Rogers' 7.2 HSPA network, by far the fastest mobile network in Canada, Canadians can today experience even faster broadband download speeds on their cellphones, smartphones and laptops. [...] As we've seen with recent announcements, wireless service providers across Canada and internationally are trying to catch up by making the switch to the HSPA standard which Rogers embraced more than three years ago because of the unique benefits it provides our customers. And with today's national availability of Canada's fastest mobile network, we'll continue to offer the best wireless services and newest innovations to Canadians from Halifax to Victoria."

At the same time, Rogers is also refreshing users’ memory regarding its 7.2MB/s HSPA mobiles, namely the HTC Touch Diamond, the LG Vu T719, the Novatel MC950D Rocket Stick and the Novatel X950D Express card. Since the GSM network has now evolved to the 7.2MB/s High Speed Packet Access (HSPA), only by using such devices the previously mentioned speeds are reachable.
