Sooner rather than later, mobile phone users in Canada will be able to enjoy faster speeds while on the go, on the LTE network that wireless carrier Rogers is getting ready to fire up.

The company already announced plans to make the new 4G LTE services available for Canadians, and also unveiled a series of devices that will be released on its new network, including the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S II LTE.

Not only is Rogers the first carrier in Canada to announce LTE connectivity, but it is also the very first company to make the new Galaxy S II LTE device available for purchase.

Today, those who would like to try out the LTE network from Rogers have the possibility to reserve one Galaxy S II LTE device for when it is released on shelves.

For the time being, the wireless carrier did not offer specific info on the pricing and monthly plan details for its LTE devices and services, but the company will make all these details available soon.

In its website, the carrier put the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE up for reservations next to the LTE Rocket mobile hotspot (Sierra Wireless AirCard 754S), which should arrive on shelves too as soon as the new network is fired up.

Those who would like to reserve the new mobile phone will have to come up with a $40 refundable deposit, the wireless carrier notes on its website.

Packing a 4.5” WVGA Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen (480x800), the LTE-capable Galaxy S II model sports a 1.2 GHz dual-core application processor complemented by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The mobile phone also comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with flash and HD video recording capabilities, as well as with a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling.

The mobile phone runs under the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and offers support for a wide range of services and applications for mobile devices.

Rogers also notes that it will arrive with AWS for connectivity on its LTE network, as well as with Tri-band HSPA+/Quad-band EDGE for support of the carrier's 4G HSPA+ network and for international roaming.
